It’s officially Sinulog season, which means that thousands of people will be flocking to Cebu for the country’s biggest cultural festival. As usual, various events and celebrations are slated to happen from Friday to Sunday. Among these include gigs featuring the best of the local indie scene, workshops, drag shows, and more.

January 17 (Friday)

[Make-a] Puso Weaving Workshop

One of the most iconic food delicacies from Cebu is the puso, or hanging rice. Cebu Making Space is hosting a puso-making workshop, where attendees will be able to learn the traditional art of puso-weaving using local palm fronds and how to add the rice. After the workshop, attendees will be able to cook and eat their own puso too.

Bottle City 2025: Hunter Moves Night Day 1

Local indie production house John Bottles Events are back with this year’s edition of Bottle City, featuring Manila-based acts Party Pace (Raymund Marasigan, John Apura, Eco del Rio, Badjao de Castro), Tarsius (Diego Mapa, Jay Gapasin), and The Diegos (Diego Mapa, Diego Castillo). For the first day of the event, they’ll be joined by local bands Mandaue Nights. Milkmus, KANA, The Qings, and Thcrss.

Flip The Script Cebu

More of a hip-hop head? Some of the most notable hip-hop artists in the country are heading to Flip The Script Cebu. The event will take place at Cartel Studio in Mandaue City.

January 18 (Saturday)

Conclave: The Bottle City 2025 Music Talks

Learn more about independent music with these Music Talks organized by John Bottles. Among the speakers of the event are Jigger Divina (Locked Down Entertainment, Manila), Dexter Sy (Melt Records), Bobbi Olvido (John Bottles, Kubra Commander, Sheila and the Insects), and Kara Angan (Coast2Coast).

Bottle City 2025: Hunter Moves Night Day 2

Can’t go to the first day of Bottle City? Don’t worry, the second leg of the gig series will still feature Party Pace, Tarsius, and The Diegos with the addition of local acts Coloura, Sheila and the Insects, Sad Day Assistance, and Coney Reyes on Camera. MISTERMIL and Libya Montes will also be performing DJ sets on the day.

Slaynulog 2025

Drag Race Philippines alums Khianna, Maxie, and Angel are heading to the Queen City of the South for the aptly titled Slaynulog 2025. Catch them and local queens Bella Fox, Dyxtruxia, Edsa Xxtra, Kitty Sinclair, Malayaugh, Cardi Jevy, Vae Zha Yazzz, and Ashlee Min Hoe.

January 19 (Sunday)

Rock’It Festival

Originally billed to celebrate roots, reggae, and rock, the Rock’It Festival is now raising funds to help Franco frontman Franco Reyes recover after getting into an accident earlier last week. In their stead, Gabby Alipe (Urbandub) and the Suspitsados (featuring members from Franco, Urbandub, Powerspoonz, Glitch, Kingspade, and Faspitch) will be playing covers of Franco’s discography.

They will be joined by Radikal Guru, Glitch, Powerspoonz, Dice & K-9, Junior Kilat, Smooth Friction, Selah Dub Warriors, and Bangkilan. Get your tickets here.
