Cagayan de Oro-based dreampop band KRNA are heading to Music Bridge Tokyo this April 11 and 12.

In a Facebook post announcing their inclusion on the lineup, the act wrote, “Performing in Japan always felt like a far-off dream. It’s something we talked about but never imagined would actually happen. Yet here we are! Following the footsteps our friends from Vincent Eco, who just performed at Music Lane Okinawa last weekend. It’s all of our band members’ first time to ever set foot in Japan (God Willing) so it’s bound to be an experience like no other. Excited nga kulbaan (with a little bit of fear).”

They continued, “We’re deeply grateful to the Music Bridge Tokyo team and the panel of curators for giving us this incredible opportunity to bring our music to Tokyo this April, representing our hometown on an international stage. As we work hard to make this dream a reality, any support to help us get there would mean the world. We’re planning to do a series of shows and release limited merch too so do keep posted!”

In the past, KRNA performed on the online edition of Music Lane Okinawa and the AXEAN Music Showcase in 2022. In an essay written by Dexter Sy on the importance of music export, vocalist KC Salazar recounted their experience in Singapore, saying, “I immediately felt elated just taking in the whole moment…[it was] cathartic. After all the preparations, it was nice that it finally happened.”

In other news, KRNA’s latest single, “I’m Wrong” was listed as one of our top 25 songs of 2024. In our review of the song, we wrote, “KRNA can truly do no wrong. Frontwoman KC Salazar’s distinct, full voice transcends reality in this dreamy and haunting track. You can’t help but cry and scream along as she belts out: “Nothing can make it somehow matter.””
